Live poker events come in all shapes and sizes these days. Some are geared more toward professional players who make a living playing the game, while others are geared more toward poker fans seeking to experience the excitement of big tournaments without breaking the bank.

The 888poker LIVE tour certainly belongs more to the latter category. While these festivals still attract many experienced players, their focus has primarily been on bringing poker to the people.

Great organization, affordable buy-ins, and the electrifying atmosphere have all helped make the first half of 2024 a great success for 888poker LIVE festivals.

So, what were the first six month of the year like for the operator, and what can players look forward for the rest of 2024?

Kicking the New Year Off in Style in Madrid

Ushering in 2024, 888poker LIVE traveled to the capital of Spain for the very first festival of the year. Madrid’s Gran Via Casino hosted a week full of poker action, announcing things to come.

The €888 Main Event ended up attracting 435 entries, and the title eventually stayed in the city, as the local player Manuel Ledesma was the last player standing, picking up €58,000 for his outstanding performance.

To make the story even more exciting, Ledesma started the day as a short stack. He clawed his way back from just ten big blinds to capture the coveted trophy.

The Main Event wasn’t the only game in town, though. With ten tournaments on the docket, the 888poker LIVE Madrid 2024 festival offered something for everyone, with buy-ins going as low as €55.

With this festival, the operator set the tone for the rest of the year, promising extremely well-organized yet affordable live tournaments. Not surprisingly, this was met by the approval from the players.

888poker LIVE Travels to Romania

Following on the success of the Madrid event, 888poker made its way to Romania. Partnering up with PokerRoom Bucharest and PokerFest, the operator set up another exciting festival in the country’s capital during the second half of March.

Mindful of the market, 888poker made the Main Event even more affordable, setting up the asking price of just €560. The rest of the schedule comprised a number of very affordable events, attracting players in droves.

The Main Event saw a turnout similar to that in Madrid, with the tournament clock showing 406 entries by the time all starting flights were done. Once again, the title and the prize of €37,000 went to the local player Razvan Morar.

Interestingly enough, Morar also made a comeback from the stack of just 12 big blinds to start the final day, clawing the victory from the jaws of defeat.

The €220 Opening Event attracted a rather respectable field of 115 entries as well, with the eventual winner taking home just over €6,300.

Back to Spain!

In May, 888poker returned to Spain, but this time around, visiting the beautiful city of Barcelona. When it comes to live poker events, Barcelona never seems to disappoint and regularly produces big fields and large prize pools.

The €888 Main Event attracted 476 entries to the Casino Barcelona, creating a very respectable prize pool of €370,000.

The event was, naturally, dominated by Spanish players. However, the title ended up going to Romania, as Josep Valls was the last man standing, picking up €61,550 for his efforts.

The 888poker LIVE Barcelona 2024 schedule was the most extensive one of the year, with over 15 poker tournaments on the docket. A majority of them were in that affordable range of a few hundred euros, with one €2,000 high roller thrown into the mix.

Two More Stops Before the Wrap

The 888poker LIVE tour has two more stops on the schedule before calling it for 2024. Both of these will be taking place in the UK.

The first one on the horizon is the Manchester festival in August. This event was originally meant to play out in London, but the operator had to switch venues.

This doesn’t take anything away from the allure of the festival, though. We expect a host of eager players to descend upon the UK city. There are many online qualifiers running right now, and 888 will also be awarding Ultimate Poker Experience packages to six lucky players.

Finally, things will wrap up in Coventry in October, bringing another season of the 888poker LIVE tour to its official end.

If you’re yet to experience the magic of live events organized by 888, there is still enough time to make the necessary arrangements and even secure your seat at a big discount at one of the two upcoming festivals.

There is no other tour out there that will provide you with so much excitement and such a great atmosphere while keeping buy-ins so affordable. It is truly a live poker tour for the people, and if you decide to get involved, you won’t be disappointed.
